Microbiology Graduate Students Receive Graduate Research Fellowships

Congratulations to Aileen Ferraro and Mike Paxhia for being recipients of National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship awards! The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program supports outstanding graduate students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and is a very competitive program. Aileen is a Ph.D. student in the lab of Dr. Zachary Lewis where she is studying how Neurospora crassa controls the structure and function of its heterochromatin. Mike is a Ph.D. student in the lab of Dr. Diana Downs where he is investigating how Salmonella and other bacteria integrate biosynthetic pathways to fine tune metabolism
