Yi-Ywan Margaret Chen (1985-1987) was Duncan Krause’s first graduate student.  She earned her Masters degree having published two research articles in Infection and Immunity [Chen & Krause, 1988; Krause & Chen, 1988] on Mycoplasma pneumoniae attachment to trachea epithelial cells and HeLa cells. Upon completion of her M.S. with Duncan, Margaret earned her Ph.D. at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Tx.  She did her postdoctoral research at Rochester University in New York and remained at Rochester as a Research Assistant Professor until 2001. She currently is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Chang Gung University in Taiwan.
