Angela Fuqua Norman (MS 1994). After completing my Master of Science degree in Microbiology in 1994, I had little interest in pursuing a career in a research laboratory. While my research was exciting, challenging, and rewarding, I missed the direct interaction with people. A friend introduced me to the pharmaceutical industry. It was a perfect match. I had an opportunity to utilize my science degrees and interact with people on a daily basis. I was quickly promoted from being a sales rep, to regional sales trainer to a district sales manager. However, while in the industry, I discovered that I had really strong business acumen skills and a burning desire to own and operate my own business. After several years of impromptu interviews with various business owners, I decided to end my career in the pharmaceutical industry and become my own boss.
I had recently had my first child and was talking to the owner of my daughter’s preschool (The Goddard School) and to make a long story short, I decided it was the perfect business opportunity for me and my family. Ten years have come and gone. I have won virtually every award that the franchisor has to offer and I was also featured in Entrepreneur Magazine several years ago. Currently I reside in Cincinnati, Ohio with my husband, two daughters, and new addition, a yorkie puppy! In my spare time, I enjoy shopping, reading, and spending time with my family. |
