Stephanie Ross Bose (Ph.D. 2007). For the past several years, I have been teaching both the Introductory to Microbiology lecture class of approximately 100 students and 4 lab sections per semester at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Lecturing at a smaller school has presented a variety of new challenges that have served to broaden my teaching expertise. Looking back, the teaching experience I gained at the University of Georgia in the Microbiology department was extremely helpful as I started my teaching career.
When we moved to Omaha, Jeff (Ph.D. 2007) began working as a post-doc in the research lab of Dr. Ken Bayles at the University of Nebraska Medical Center studying programmed cell death of Staphylococcus aureus. In 2009, Jeff was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship from the National Institute of Health. Through this funding, Jeff is specifically working on characterizing two proteins of unknown function, as well as understanding factors of cell lysis and their contribution to biofilm formation. |
