4-1-2008 Awards
Well Eric just told us the great news about Alecia Septer's NDSEG Fellowship and
I thought this was a good prompt to relay some more good news.
Chris Reich is one of only 16 graduate students chosen to participate in the international summer course “Microbial Oceanography: Genomes to Biomes,”
which is sponsored by the Agouron Institute and is based at the University of
Hawaii in Honolulu, Hawaii. The course will explore the dynamic and
fundamental role marine microbes play in shaping ocean ecology and global
biogeochemistry. Chris had to turn down a travel award from ASM to present
his poster in Boston in order to attend this course...tough decision, huh?
Jason Cloward and How-Yi Chen both received travel awards to attend the 17th
Congress of the International Organization for Mycoplasmology this July in
Tianjin, China. Also, Mitch Balish, who was a post-doc with Duncan, will receive
the Derrick Edward Young Investigator Award in Mycoplasmology at this
conference in China. Mitch is now on the faculty at Miami of Ohio.
Congratulations to one and all!
