Sara Nicole Shakil and Riddhi M. Patel, seniors in the BS in Microbiology program at the UGA Griffin Campus, have been nominated for UGA Student Employee of the Year. They were nominated by their direct supervisors in recognition of their reliability, initiative, professionalism, ability to work independently, and positive attitude; the quality of their work; and the unique contribution they make to the campus.

Sara, who transferred to the UGA Griffin Campus from Auburn University in Fall 2008, was nominated by Dr. Margie Paz, the lecturer in the Franklin College’s microbiology program at the Griffin Campus. Sara has been Dr. Paz’s lab assistant since Fall 2008.

Riddhi, who transferred to the UGA Griffin Campus in Fall 2008 after receiving her associate’s degree from Bainbridge College, was nominated by Dr. Ynes Ortega, an associate professor in UGA’s Center for Food Safety. Riddhi has been a lab assistant in Dr. Ortega’s research lab since Spring 2009.

Riddhi and Sara will be among the top 100 nominees honored April 14th at the 4th Annual UGA Student Employee of the Year Award Recognition Luncheon at the UGA Center for Continuing Education.
