Image: Hello, The Microbiology Department is pleased to announce that Claire Reichardt of the Billmyre Lab has been selected as an ARCS Scholar. ARCS® Foundation is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization started and run entirely by women who boost American leadership and aid advancement in science and technology. To address the country’s need for new scientists and engineers, they provide unrestricted funding to help the country’s brightest PhD students create new knowledge and innovative technologies. To learn more about the ARCS Foundation, go to arcsfoundation.org. Claire is a Microbiology doctoral student at the University of Georgia focusing on fungal pathogens. Claire is interested in fungal genomics and its correlation to pathogenicity. She received her B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2023 where she maintained research positions in Microbiology and Plant Pathology departments for all four years. Claire was named an NIH T32Trainee in the Genetics department at the University of Georgia in 2024. She has published two peer-reviewed articles. In her free time, Claire helps publish young researchers at the Journal of Emerging Investigators through copy editing and reviewing. Congratulations Claire!
