Microbiology undergraduate Convocation Ceremony Fall 2024 Microbiology Undergraduate Convocation Friday, December 13, 2024, 2:00 PM Miller Learning Center, Reading Room, Third FLoor University of Georgia Commencement Information Each spring and fall semester the department recognizes our graduating Microbiology seniors. Microbiology undergraduates planning on graduating in the summer semester are invited to participate in the spring ceremony, which is held in the afternoon on the day of the spring semester Commencement. Friends and family of our graduating seniors are invited to attend the ceremony which will begin with an informal reception where students’ families can meet faculty and staff of the Microbiology department. The format of the ceremony consists of opening remarks and introductions, some light-hearted entertainment, a brief talk by a distinguished alumnus, and individual recognition of the scholastic and personal achievements of each student in attendance. Students interested in participating in the ceremony must fill out a form sent via a link on the Microbiology Undergraduate listserv (if you are not on the listserv, please contact mibougrad@uga.edu and request to be added). Students must also complete the exit questionnaire sent to their UGA email. Upcoming Program Details: Graduation info coming soon via the Microbiology Undergraduate Listserv. What do you need to do to prepare for graduation? It is highly recommended to complete a graduation check within one to two semesters of your intended graduation date. All students MUST apply for graduation by the withdrawal deadline of the term in which they plan to complete degree requirements and graduate. How to apply for graduation in ATHENA. You must APPLY to graduate even if you are NOT attending a graduation celebration. 1) Log into Athena 2) Select "Student" 3) Select "Apply to Graduate" 4) Follow directions - for detailed instructions: www.reg.uga.edu/files/applytograduate/gradappl.pdf 5) If you need help, please contact the Graduation Certification Office askgco@uga.edu PLEASE NOTE: Summer Graduates: If you are completing graduation requirements during the Summer semester, you MUST apply for Summer 2020 graduation. You will still be able to participate in the Spring Commencement Ceremony and your name will be printed in the program (as long as there is no FERPA restriction on your record). Please make sure you are choosing the correct graduation application term and if you are unsure, discuss with your advisor. There is always a lot of confusion regarding Summer vs. Spring graduation and it is a lengthy process to have your graduation application updated to the correct term.
