  1. Have research prospectus approved by advisory committee before the end of the first semester.
  2. Complete written proposal and pass oral defense of it in Spring of year 2 (or before August of year 3).

  1. Have annual meeting with your advisory committee (beginning one year after being admitted to candidacy)
