Department of Microbiology Programs B.S. in Microbiology The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with a major in Microbiology is a liberal arts degree. This is not a pre-professional degree, but it does prepare students for professional programs. Students who are interested in graduate programs, health sciences (medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, optometry, public health) and veterinary medicine will complete most of the pre-requisites necessary to enter those programs while working towards completion of the Microbiology major. In addition, our students will be prepared to apply to entry-level technical positions in a variety of settings, including university, hospital, government, biotechnology, and other industries. Curriculum Minor in Microbiology As a second major, microbiology can add competence in logic, critical analysis, and effective writing to the specialized knowledge offered in your other major and appreciably increase your chances in the job market. There are no residency requirements for the minor in Microbiology. Students must earn a āCā (2.0) or higher in required courses.
