Final Program of Study Instructions

Final Program of Study - Electronic Submission Instructions

All degree-seeking students must submit a program of study form. This form is an electronic form and is available under Forms in Grad Status (gradstatus.uga.edu). Direct link to Program of Study. Please read full instructions for the form at the bottom of this page http://grad.uga.edu/index.php/current-students/forms/form-instruction/.  All students are expected to work closely with the department and major professor to develop the program of study for the student.

Doctoral students should submit the program of study at least 2 weeks prior to written and oral comps.

General instructions for completing the program of study:

  1. Meet with the appropriate person in your department to discuss your program of study.
  2. Login to Grad Status and complete the general information. If you are uncertain which Major/Degree you are pursuing, please check Athena for this information.
  3. Read the Important Notes section
  4. Enter all Courses including the Prefix and Course Number you have taken or will take to complete requirements for the degree. To add additional courses, click the green + sign.
  5. Only Master of Science and Master of Arts candidates need to check the box for courses open to Grad Students only. Do not include 7000 or 7300 in courses open only to graduate students.
  6. Hit Submit. You will see a message if the form was successfully submitted. You will also receive a confirmation email. It may take some time for the form to submit. Do not hit the submit button multiple times.
  7. The form will be reviewed by your department and sent to the major professor and graduate coordinator for approval. If you are a thesis-writing student or doctoral student, the program of study will be sent to your full committee for approval.
  8. You can check the status of the form under “My Submissions” in Grad Status.
  9. If your program of study is denied, the department will add a comment to the form and you will have to modify the form and resubmit. You will receive an email if your program of study is denied.
  10. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure the form is being reviewed and approved before the posted deadline. If your form is still under review on the deadline date, you should reach out to the department to make sure it is approved by the end of the day.
